Description

The landscape, which may be based on a specific location, judging by the topographical depiction of the house and surrounding countryside, dates probably to the later decades of the eighteenth century. Although the artist is unknown, the style is reminiscent of the Picturesque landscapes of the oil painter and watercolourist Julius Caesar Ibbetson, which often feature natural effects such as storms and rainbows.
