Description
In the late nineteenth century Cole, who stated that the picture was by the seventeenth-century Dutch painter Emanuel de Witte (1615/17–1691/2), noted the picture hanging in the Long Gallery. Although the painting is reminiscent of de Witte’s work, it does not appear to be by him. The identity of the church, which would appear to be Dutch, has yet to be identified.
