Description
The provenance of the portrait and the identity of the sitter are unknown. A possible clue to her identity is provided by the coat of arms in the upper right corner. Although it has yet to be identified, a speculation is that it might relate in some way to the city of Amsterdam, which has a coat of arms featuring three silver crosses of St Andrew on a red ground.
