Rather, the portrait appears to represent a scholar in his mid- to late teens, painted at some point in the seventeenth century, but possibly evoking an even earlier age. The gown and the embroidered shirt suggest some sort of courtly or institutional affiliation. by Martin Postle Related items from Doddington Hall's Catalogue and Doddington Hall's Document Doddington Hall Edward Hussey Delaval attributed to Arthur Pond, c. mid-1740s Doddington Hall Mrs Rhoda Delaval, née Apreece after Enoch Seeman, ? after 1730 Doddington Hall 1753 Doddington Inventory
