Description
Bagutti worked for John Fane, the uncle and guardian of Francis Dashwood, at his Mereworth house; the drawings are here attributed to him on stylistic grounds. The walls in this and other drawings are articulated on two levels with projecting cornice above Ionic pilasters, decorated with busts, swags and urns. The Rococo-style chimney-surround is topped with a spread-eagle motif.
